Kinetic Precipitation of Solution Phase Mo-POM by Designed Organic Hosts: A Window to Solution Phase Nanostructures

چکیده

The nature of the solution state species in partially reduced aqueous polyoxomolybdates has puzzled scientists for 200 years. Great breakthroughs in this area have only been made in recent years with the discovery of self-assembled giant polyoxomolybdates (Mo-POM), such as the spherical " keplerates ". 1,2 Keplerates are supramolecular inorganic clusters with icosahedral symmetry. The spherical keplerate {Mo 132 } is unique due to its discrete nature, size (~2.9 nm, Mo 132), charge (-42), and fascinating aesthetic beauty. 1 While the crystal structure has been elucidated, the solution state characteristics are unknown. Keplerate {Mo 132 } could possibly function as a discrete, nanoscale, multivalent building block for the construction of novel composite materials. The high negative charge that keplerate {Mo 132 } carries could be used to establish strong electrostatic interactions between the organic host and inorganic guest, leading to solid self-assembly processes. Furthermore the keplerate is already at the nanoscale.

Fluoride Precipitation of Cu Over Fe in a Selected pH Window

Fe is an impurity in most leach liquors. Its coexistence with copper in leaching solution of chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) which is the most important mineral of copper creates major extraction problems. Hydrochloric acid dissolves both copper and iron during chloride leaching of this mineral. Separation of Fe from Cu is thus necessary to obtain pure copper. This paper presents a novel metho...

A Solution Model for Predicting Asphaltene Precipitation

Formation of asphaltene deposition during oil production, processing and synthesis is known as a fundamental problem of petroleum reservoir worldwide. Asphaltene is a petroleum fraction that can lead to increasing the operating costs in these industries. Variations in operational pressure, temperature and fluid composition are generally the significant cause of asphaltene precipitation. In ...

Kinetic precipitation of solution-phase polyoxomolybdate followed by transmission electron microscopy: a window to solution-phase nanostructure.

This study aimed to elucidate the structural nature of the polydisperse, nanoscopic components in the solution and the solid states of partially reduced polyoxomolybdate derived from the [Mo132] keplerate, [(Mo)Mo5]12-[Mo2 acetate]30. Designer tripodal hexamine-tris-crown ethers and nanoscopic molybdate coprecipitated from aqueous solution. These microcrystalline solids distributed particle rad...

Kinetic study of cis-polybutadiene epoxidation by using 1HNMR spectroscopy in buffered oxone® solution with tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide as phase transfer catalyst (PTC)

Cis-polybutadiene was functionalized using in–situ generated DMD as oxidant and tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide as phase transfer catalyst (PTC). The epoxidation process was investigated by 1HNMR spectroscopy. 1HNMR spectrum analysis of products confirms the absence of ring opening side products in epoxidation reaction. Various factors such as reaction temperature, reaction time and the concentr...

Design, synthesis, conformational analysis and nucleic acid hybridisation properties of thymidyl pyrrolidine-amide oligonucleotide mimics (POM).

Pyrrolidine-amide oligonucleotide mimics (POM) 1 were designed to be stereochemically and conformationally similar to natural nucleic acids, but with an oppositely charged, cationic backbone. Molecular modelling reveals that the lowest energy conformation of a thymidyl-POM monomer is similar to the conformation adopted by ribonucleosides. An efficient solution phase synthesis of the thymidyl PO...
